Unable to Select Reverse or Park - Grizzly 700
Found the reason why I couldnt select Reverse or Park - there is a cable from the rear brake that goes along the right side of the engine and crosses behind the cylinder to just where the shifter linkage connects to the case. There it attaches via a hollow barrel that allows an internal spring to push a pin out and into the path of the linkage. If its working correctly, actuation of the rear brake pulls the pin out of the way. If, on the other hand, it gets rusted stuck, no amount of rear brake application will retract the pin. Remove the cover over the gas tank, and the left side center cowling. Look just behind the exhaust pipe and you will see where the shifter attaches to the case, and the cable coming from the opposite side of the bike.
Simply unscrew the cable from the barrel, then the barrel from the case of the engine. Knock the pin out, clean it and the inside of the barrel, lube well, and re-assemble. Works well!!
